The Farm
Threefold Farm is a highly diversified unusual fruit orchard operating since 2016. We grow pawpaws, kiwi berries, persimmons, and jujubes in the field as well as in two geothermal greenhouses that produce figs and citrus. Our produce is sold through wholesale accounts ranging from high end distributors to local farm stores to festivals like the York Pawpaw Festival.
Our unique blend of fruits and focus on sustainable growing practices means that we have a significant marketing advantage and a solid customer base that loves our products and wants more than we currently have to offer. Our growing scionwood and cuttings sales provides a source of revenue through the winter season.
Our fruit’s seasonality means that our heavy production time runs from late August through mid November with opportunities for flexibility in schedule during the winter season.
Our still-maturing orchard means increased opportunity for growth and advancement alongside the orchard. We aim to run a lean operation with low overhead thanks to design and a focus on building out infrastructure during our first years of operation.
Our threefold mission is to grow, serve, and teach (https://threefold.farm/about-us)
About the Role
The farm manager at our small farm wears a lot of hats: from field work, customer interaction, and harvest to off-season planning, bookkeeping, and maintenance.
More than just a manager, at 10 years in we’re hoping to find a partner who will not only keep the orchard running, but help us to dream about and execute the next 10 years of the growth of the farm and to grow alongside it. Therefore the farm manager must be creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial, love outdoor work, be self motivated, curious, and always excited and willing to learn new things and challenge themselves.
Opportunities also exist for the right candidate to help with our sister company, Atmos Greenhouse Systems, to advance the research, design, and use of climate battery greenhouses to help farmers produce more economically and sustainably. (see more https://atmosgreenhouse.com/learn-overview)
What Your Days Will Look Like
Orchard & Livestock
Orchard: Manage the full production cycle, from pruning to routine maintenance to scouting for pests and stewarding soil health.
Animals: Look after a small herd of sheep and goats, ensuring they have clean stalls and healthy pastures as they maintain our orchard perimeter.
Harvest: Lead the harvest season (mid-August to mid-November), coordinating harvest help, timing, packing, and inventory management.
Systems & Infrastructure
Maintenance: Keep a small fleet of equipment, greenhouses, and infrastructure in top shape.
Organization: Keep the shop and workspaces clean and organized as a part of a ‘lean’ operation.
Innovation: During the growing season and off season, you’ll have 20% of your time dedicated to "passion projects" or research that improves the farm's efficiency, expands products, or increases sustainability.
Business and Community
Sales & Marketing: Be the face of the farm for many of our wholesale customers, managing weekly availability emails and point-of-sale software.
Financials: Keep our data current in QuickBooks and ensure invoices are created, tracked, and paid.
Teaching: In line with our mission, help us share what we’ve learned through on-farm tours and online platforms.
Future Growth
Planning: Work with us to think 2, 5, and 10 years out, helping to plan infrastructure improvements, farm expansions, and new crops.
Collaboration: There are also opportunities to assist with our sister company, Atmos Greenhouse Systems, on climate battery research and design.
Who You Are
Driven & Entrepreneurial
Our orchard manager is self-motivated and finds ways to be useful (not just busy). At the same time, they’re thinking of potential new products that fit well within our orchard context and enjoy throwing ideas at the wall, then running a spreadsheet to see if those ideas make sense in the business context of the farm.
Creative & Curious, Life-Long Learner
Our orchard manager is someone who asks a lot of questions and comes up with a lot of creative ideas and solutions, who finds joy in constantly learning new things and developing new skills and abilities. Our farm is constantly doing new things: installing new infrastructure, taking on new building projects, trying out new varieties and production methods. We need a partner with the same mindset.

Our orchard manager is someone who loves caring for the land and the privilege of harvesting from it alongside the weighty responsibility of improving it along the way.

On working for Threefold Farm...
“Working on Threefold farm was a very fulfilling experience. I learned a diverse amount of information through the different tasks that came with each day. A day is never boring and not like the previous, as the tasks and weather are different every day. Any day could involve working with plants, infrastructure, and people. There is the occasional hard task, but the work evens itself out and the Clymers are very gracious people. If you enjoy rewarding work, Threefold Farm is the place for you.
It was great to see the growth, birth, and transformation which happened in the 15 weeks I was there, in the goats, berries and figs, to name a few. I was able to experience a variety tasks working with tools ranging from clippers to power saws to tractors to goats and people. Tasks can dabble in electrical, woodwork, and irrigation beyond the normal farm work. The feeling of knowledge gained and the work environment make a job at Threefold Farm worth any obstacles you may face.”
